We arrived in Columbus at about 2000 after an extraordinary day of riding. We started the day at Stella's where we were met by a number of well wishers including Co. Exec. Nick Pirro. As we renewed old acquaintances at the breakfast, Gary came oujt with a cake he'd slaved over overnight, for Nick's birthday and everyone belted out Happy Birthday! We started our journey with 12 bikes. Howie, Elaine, Kurt, Walshie and Eric were there to ride out with us and they hung with us until the Geneva exiit and then peeled off. For the rest of the day, we clipped along like the synchronized swimmers at Coral Springs. Our avg. speed numbers speak for themselves, both moving and for the day.
We talked over some cold ones and agreed that it was the best first day we've had yet. Everyone rode well together. At one point, a fireman driving a firetruck tried to take me out!
Our lunch stop was a nice break on the shore of Lake Erie. It was sunny and warm all day and got warmer as the day wore on. I'm nursing a sunburn today. The muffelatta's were good but were missing something, although there were no complaints. Jason "BigBoy" looked like he died and went to heaven!
The hotel is in the middle of downtown so, there's nothing going on nearby. We found a nice watering hole named "High Beck's" where we watched the local crowd hoot and holler for the Cleveland NBA team in the east finals. Our burgers and sandwiches were perfect and we watched the end and left for the hotel. After smuggling some beers into the pool area of the bar, we stopped for a nightcap with the nice barmaid and Mike D confessed to what we'd done and we had one with her and retired for the evening.
Here's our numbers for yesterday;
Total miles-521.7
All day AVG-50.7 MPH
Moving AVG-63.4
Total time-10:18
Driving time-8:13
stopped-2:05

It's 0745 and I'll close to find time to re-pack the bike. I brought more shirts than Manny on the Hill! Gotta give some away!

Next stop, St. Louis!
