9/9 has historically been the Guns 'n Hoses Clambake, last year, we had a great turnout at Destiny Motorsports for the annual gastrointestinal extravaganza! This year, 9/9 falls on a Sunday and we'll make some plans for this important event. Stay tuned!

Robin and I leave on Friday for a late summer spin through Ohio, and on to Osage Beach, Missouri for a BMW rally (back near route 19 I think), and then a ride to Santa Fe along what is left of old 66. The route home will be weather dependent but may get us into Texas, and up the river road from Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas, and on through Tennessee and Kentucky. We plan to be home on September 13th but changes are always possible. This cool NY weather is great. . .95+ temps and hard rains in the southwest may conspire to make us boogy back right after the rally. I'll try to post you a note or give you a call if we will be back for the 9th. I do like clams!

Gary and I kept copious notes on our last couple of clambakes and we think we have it down to a science. . . 22 1/3 clams per person, we're ditching the hot dogs, coneys and hamburgers because no one ate them. We'll have the red clam chowder that was a big hit. And the flash fried rib-eye steak sangwidges on DiLauro's rolls mmm-mmmmm-mmmmm. Some carmelized Vidalia onions. Salt potatoes and corn on the cob. Any other requests??

I too, am working days on 9/9. :( I dont want to promise anyone that I will arrive at any particular time. So, dont plan any food for me. If I show, it will be a treat for me just to see everyone.

Count us In Jeanne and I will be there. :D Should be there on the new machine as some kid unceremoniously removed me from my Valkyrie. I guess I made out better.

Bob and Anna Carfagno will be attending, they don't have internet access currently so I'm reporting for them.

Looks like we'll have 18-24 people from the emails and poll results. I'll call Little Buddy today and work out a schedule and final food prep plans for us. Call with any questions.

I thought I might be back for the ckambake but time and distance are telling me otherwise. I was in Leakey, TX yesterday. This morning, I left Oklahoma City in the rain and only logged 415 miles today, getting me to Rola, Mo. The trip has been a ball: many roads in Missouri are like the great route 19 we saw this spring. Many Oklahoma sections of Route 66 are intact and the evidence of the old towns and another way of life are evident. In Texas, the state routes frequently have 70mph posted speed limits. With little traffic, who needs interstates. To date, we've been out for 16 days and should be home around the 13th, about 5.5k roundtip. Y'all have a clam and beer for me! Ta. . .

Doc,
Thanks for the post and you and Robin have a safe return trip home.

To all,
Gary, Chief and I spent a few hours of quality time in the Turners kitchen getting stuff ready for the bake and everything seems in order. For those who are coming, please bring a chair or two, as there are only 2 picnic tables at Destiny. Also, we need a propane tank for the steamer if anyone has one they can bring. Call me at 391-5770 and let me know if you have one so we can plan accordingly.
It's drizzling a bit right now, but we have a tent set up so folks shouldn't get too wet. Look forward to seeing you all there!

One last thing. . . you probably won't recognize Elaine today. . . she's a blond! (sorry, couldn't resist it!)

Thanks Kevin, it was good to see you and Jeanne and we were happy that your unplanned dismount was no more tragic than it was and thanks again for the propane. It would've been tough opening 800 clams without it!

Well, nice that you threw me under the "blonde bus" ...not enough that I can admit my own fuzzy minded moments but better to be ready a "date" early than a "date" late...Had a great time, you guys did a good job putting it all together. Thanks !! Fondly,Elaine
