View Full Version : They are off!!!
My wife and I rode out of town with the guys. What a beautiful day for a ride. We rode with them south to out side Ithaca and then headed to Whitney Point for a ride north on Rt. 26. In all we rode 170 miles with some beautiful roads and scenery. Definately a ride for the books. Hope all is well for everyone.
HOWIE
We had a spectacular ride that day. As you mentioned, the weather was awesome! We checked into our hotel in Grantsville, ordered pizza (a hotel guest offered to drive. Billy drew the short straw. . . the guy almost got on the interstate in the wrong direction!) We ate poolside and the water was great, too!
Today was another story! Rain most of the day and we ended up shortening the ride to make a b-line for the hotel. This hotel is immaculate! Wayne was like the concierge waiting for us to arrive. He had beer on ice in the lobby and everything!
We saw the 2nd highest US bridge, which spans the New River Gorge near Summerville. Also, while stopped at a Go-Mart near Summerville, a little girl walking with her mother entering the store was SO excited to see Stu in his new goggles. She thought he was a cartoon character and blurted out,"Hi Mega-Man!" We thought that was pretty amusing!
Here's some rolling commentary from Day 1.

I'll bet there's a few Troopers saying the same thing about someone else. . .

I think I was able to post one more. I took it today while we rode the Interstate to Asheville. A rainy, foggy day, so the "I" was our best bet. Still an extraordinary ride. I have to say, our group rode GREAT today, in spite of everything else. Did you ever think of riding an Interstate with a speed limit of 50 mph through the mountains, with not a building in sight for miles?? Let me tell you, we were up there! Not one, b ut three truck run off ramps! I hope this works!
PS- I dropped my camera later today. It's Pirro's 2-4 and 7-9, with services tomorrow. Not sure on interment. . .
