Obviously, the events of the week took their toll on our riders and most of them struggled to get going today. But the fact that we were on our second day in the same locale helped. We'd planned for a day ride to the Smoky Mts., Cold Mountain, Truss Bridge #79 and the Tail of the Dragon at Robbinsville.
We accomplished them all! The Dragon was a blast! We had a group photo taken by a local woman at the bridge and she informed us that the bridge is to be closed next year. We rode across it to have the photos taken. It's OLD!
The bridge is in the shadows of Cold Mountain, the fictional town in the movie of the same name with Nicole Kidman. We didn't see her anywhere, though!
I replaced my broken camera and used it throughout the day. I'm going to upload some YouTube videos and will post the link(s).
Gary and Mike are supposed to be en route to meet us tomorrow in Dayton. Safe ride to you guys!
