:( Another rider down this evening. Firefighter Steve "Crabby" Borek crashed this evening around 1800hrs in the fairmont area. He is being treated at Upstate Hospital. The most serious injury is an open fracture of his right leg. He was unable to speak due to intubation (needed because he recieved plentiful painkillers) but was talking upon his arrival at the medical center.

Though details are sketchy it is known He was riding his custom softail when the bike and a car tangled. He was thrown from the bike and the bike continued into a truck. Reportedly the bike burned and is a total loss.

I will provide more details tomorrow.

So sorry to hear about Steve's wreck, but hopefully he'll make a full recovery. The rest of you might not know him by name, but he's made some short runs around town with some of us. As Stu has said, we've had a lot of riders go down this season, partly because it's been such a rideable year. We all have more miles than usual this year. As he said, be careful out there!

I went to visit Steve today, He’s still not sure of the particulars. He said to let all know that he is in one piece, for now. They found two more broken bones this morning and there will probably be a few more surgeries to go. He will more than likely be in for another or longer. He asked that you hold on visiting for the time being, due to his discomfort and pain meds.
But I’m sure a card would be greatly appreciated
Steve is in room 7332 on 7A at upstate.
I know a nurse that stops in to check on him so I’ll keep every one abreast of his condition.
The roads in my town have been salted so keep that im mind while ridding.
