2010 Spring Ride

We firmed up the date(s) for the 2010 Spring "Ride for the Springs." We'll take advantage of the legal holiday Flag Day on 6/7 and leave then, returning Sunday 6/13. Our theme, for those of you who haven't heard is the Ride for the Springs, which may include any or all of Hot, Warm, Mineral, Bourbon, Salt or maybe even Tepid, but not Cold, Frozen or Rainy! And, as has been noted by some of our riders, it's more pleasant to ride in warm rain than cold rain, hence the June departure again!

You'll note that the countdown clock has been edited to reflect the new departure time. We figured that the 6/7 departure would allow us to take a day to ride down to Americade, which we've never been able to do as a group. It'll also give us some time to rest up before a weekend to Ottawa during their Canada Day holiday.

So let's start getting some feedback on stops, overnights, special requests, etc. and in the meantime, take a moment to answer the attached poll entitiled "Are you in for the 2010 Spring Ride for the Springs?"

Hi riders!
A beautiful Spring day and now, only 79 days until our Spring Ride begins!

I was feeling a bit derelict (as opposed to feeling like a derelict) about the lack of a route or destination for our Spring ride. We'd spoken at our meetings and not really come up with anything solid and with the weather breaking, I thought it was time to get serious.

Part of my job, while it is confidential, involves processing out of State court processes to be served, one of the most recent destined for Mountain Home, AR. I was looking over the map of Arkansas and reliving some of our good times that we had there and decided to do more in depth research. The more I looked, the more I thought that this year might be a good one to go back to the land of Razorbacks! As a matter of fact, my recollection of one of the Arkansas roads we were on reminded me of a razorback!

Anyways, I started playing around with some ideas and I have some places to consider. Here's my offering;

Day 1 - Columbus, OH
Day 2 - Nashville, TN
Day 3 - Hot Springs, AR (w/lunch in Memphis, TN for JJ)
Day 4 - Branson, MO (via scenic route through the Ozark Nat'l. Park)
Day 5 - Louisville, KY (with lunch in St. Louis. . . I promise to find a good one)
Day 6 - Harrisonburg, VA

You'll notice some familiar locations here. Places where we've had some good times in prior years. I'm not quite sure if I've got the number of days correct with what we've been talking about. If I missed one, I'd recommend a second day in Branson or Hot Springs (or even Nashville).

Our dates are 6/7-6/13 this year. We ARE planning to get to Ottawa for Canada Day, eh?

I looked more closely at our mileage and final stops and I'm suggesting that we change Louisville to Indianapolis and Harrisonburg to Cleveland and take in an Indians game on the 12th.
